I've been using WIX in my 88 300E ever since I got it but the price of WIX has increased a lot lately so I'm thinking of going with a Bosch oil filter this time.

Is this a ok idea or a bad idea?

I have a concern about the Bosch oil filters found in many of the auto stores. Bosch seems to make different quality levels of filters and the ones in Adv. Auto and Auto Zone in my area are really not the correct filter for the engine. Open the box and look inside the filter. You will see the difference in terms of the valve inside the filter. I would stay with WIX as you have or go to the Mann, Hengst or Mahle filters.

Ya, I know WIX is the only one with the bypass valve at the front, the rest have it at the rear, but I replace the filter every oil change (every 3000 miles) so I don't think I ever reach bypass.

WIX filters are nearly $10 where I am now plus where I am now they do not carry the size for the benz on hand, they have to order it.

How are Mopar filters? Just no idea if they make one that fits.

Why not just buy online. Then you can get what you want. Likely cheaper too.
I buy my Mann filters 10 or 12 at a time this way. When I get low, I restock.

Most banks offer a free check card (ATM) with their checking accounts.

I use mine all the time, works just like a Visa credit card, just uses funds from your checking.
