Would like to hear from others with 300e Merc's with 24 valve engine.

My car is a 300e 24V, and my brother has a 300ce 24 valve. His car uses 4 litres of oil per 10,000 k's and mine uses about 1.5 litres. What is considered normal for these engines.

Neither of our cars have any oil leaks and we run the same oil.

I'm not sure what's normal. I've only had mine for a few weeks and it hasn't used any oil yet. I've owned many cars though and the worst was a 5.0L Mustang that used a Litre every 400km. Even at that rate you could not see any smoke in the exhaust.
I had a Dodge Neon that used a Litre every 1000km for 100 000km of its life and was fine. Cars use oil, don't worry about it. Sounds like yours is in awesome condition!

The MB rule of thumb seems to be not to worry until consumption is a litre per thousand kilometres.
