alright. hello once again to you mercedes gods out there:bowdown:. i have a little story to tell you and would ask for your advice if you so wish to give it.:)

its 9:30 pm and im getting ready for bed because i have be up early for work the next morning, when the phone rings. it turns out to be my brother who happened to be riding his bike past my 1985 300td wagon that was parked in front my business. he tells me he sees someone sitting in their dinky little vlkwagon jetta which has plowed into my monstrous station wagon and driven it 10 feet forward and 4 feet up onto the curb. i of course rush down there while my brother makes sure the guy is okay and starts to get all of his information. right after i arrive the police show up and start questioning the driver to see what happened. they soon realize that he is extremely intoxicated and arrest him for dui after he failed to pass a sobriety test. so here i am with the bumper smashed in, tail lights on one side broken out, a big cave in on the rear driver side door and rear panel, the entire muffler torn off (except right at the very front end) and the rear wheel (i believe) bent in. this is the first time i have had to deal with an auto accident and insurance agencies. im scared that they are going to try and screw me over. so any advice would be appreciated. i have submitted a claim with my insurance but im have the other drivers agncy handle it because my insurance is only liability because its a business vehicle. now i am just waiting to hear from the appraiser to set up a date to appraise the damage. thanks in advance for any info.

How long have you been driving? How many No Claims Bonuses do you have? How old are you? Was your parked in a drive way/garage or a side walk?

If you do have a few no claims, and are over 21, and it was NOT parked on a puplic street and was in your garage/driveway then nothing will effect your insurance. If at most, a few hundred. At most!

I don't think there is any question of repairing your car. The other driver's insurance company will undoubtably total your car and pay you the market value. You probably won't be happy with what they pay you. A 24-year-old car is not worth very much, even a Mercedes (or especially a Mercedes). But there's not a lot you can do about it. You can try to get more but it won't be worth what you expend in time and energy. Best just to chalk it up to 'shit happens' and move on.

yup they might total your car, even if it is fixable,it depends a lot on the mileage also, and if your exhaust is torn off, those things are SO expensive, over a grand each, easily,it sucks.
