The old wheels were way better IMO. The gas station pic makes it look like some ghetto ride that I'd expect to hear some obnoxious bass coming out of. Star grills look like shit on these cars as well.

With the old wheels and a stock grill it would look sick.

The old wheels actually didn't fit and looked quite horrible. You might be able to tell from the pic that they are sunken in. That is because they were a 44 offset. I was told they were the stock rims, but in fact those are for an S500.

My new to me E55 1998

I'm in NZ and we got the Euro-spec E55. Mines done 207km and only a few little things done/to do eg fixed sunroof and passenger headrest, reupholster the leather steering wheel, detail the lamps and one rim and some scratches, new head gasket, have replaced the factory radio, regassed and tested aircon, new external temp sensor, and seems that the front tierods/bushes might need replacing. Standard except these 19inch wheels, don't know whether they were a factory option, I can't find them on here, and the fake V8 Kompressor badges (which actually look quite good). Rides a bit rumbly compared to my old E280 but goes around corners with no roll and exceptional grip.
The tyres are Toyo proxes 235/30 19 F and 265/30 19 rears and the alloys have the mercedes star in the middle so look factory fitted though there is a standard 18inch monoblock alloy spare tyre.
Major asset is the beautiful sound. Often accompanied by unintentional loss of rear tyre rubber.

Do you know what kind of rims those are? I just put a deposit on a silver 2002 E430 with the same rims. It's a very clean car with only 60k miles. No sport package, but it looks great with those rims. I also have a 99 E430 Sport with 113k miles and the standard sport rims.

UPDATE - Answering my own question here - I bought the car and looked at the inside of the rim. It's a Rial DF aftermarket rim. They do look quite good on the car.
