2012 E350 Bluetec
That's great, that he had the motivation to work and save (pretty uncommon these days), and that he made that choice. I've had two of them, an E200 and an E280 and loved them. So much room inside. I wish my current W213 had that much room. They lack the modern tech but make up for it in comfort and reliability. Any repair bills he might get in the next couple of years pale in significance to depreciation on something newer. My 16 yr old bought this 1998 E430 all by himself. He saved every penny he made working over the summer.
I LOVE this car in a station wagon. Congrats on your low mileage find. I got my 2014 SLK just about a month ago with under 40K on the odometer and it's almost like a new car as well - I know the feeling when you find that used gem.Yesterday we traded in our very tired 2003 E320 4Matic Wagon for a 2015 E350 4Matic Wagon with 14k miles on the odometer.
The technology advances are impressive to say the least. The ride quality and quiet cabin are on par with my 2005 S500.
It still looks like, and drives like a brand new car. We intend to keep this one for at least 10 years.

The have factory installed Rear Seat Entertainment System and the Panorama Sunroof. CANT WAITTTTTT :crybaby2:
Unfortunately I have the same model. Crap water hose fitting to radiator cost me £1500. Crap passenger door motor replacement +£500. Now ripping through rear tyres because of no adjustment to camber. Your older Merc was probably better built!.
Just added a new mouth to the litter - E350 Bluetec, P2, pano, etc. Posing with the old car - 50 year difference in design:
