Same place, different photo. In Germany, I'd say, based on the sign in the lower left - ' Steigung 55% ' = 'Grade (or Pitch) 55 %'.
The curious thing for me is the ramp that the 411 is climbing in the foreground.
It emerges from below ground level and appears to be concrete, if the vertical form board patterns on the side are what I think they are.
Then, it appears to cantilever over and stop in mid-air with a blocking beam, without any support legs visible in the photo.
So, the question is, did Mercedes-Benz engineer and build this dramatic feature ? It would have been quite the entrance to have the UNIMOG appear out of the basement and chug up the slope.
I tend to think that they did, as just happening to find such an existing feature on the grounds of of Trade Fair location seems very unlikely. It could be a pedestrian bridge or something, but I'd expect handrails, and the environment does not seem to warrant a low flyover that would block traffic over a certain height. That would not make any sense on the fair grounds with machines moving around to their respective display plots. Note the cranes and the VW sign in the background. What is happening out of frame to the right would settle it, but these are the only two photos that I have of this display so far.
Does it seem like a lot of work and construction expense for a Trade Show ? Yes, it does, but remember that they laid track and craned in a Switcher engine just to have a tug-of-war with a UNIMOG at another installation.
I hope to find more photos.
