Hi, I've got basically an all new fuel system (injectors, hoses/seals, WUR, Fuel distributor, filter) and wondering why it seems to not start like new. It's hard to explain, but feels like if i just tap the starter it turns over and slowly starts, but not with much enthusiasm. If I hold the starter down as long as normal, it won't really come to life as easily and needs a bit of accelerator. I wonder, is the fuel pump supposed to prime the system on the first generation cars when you turn the ignition to 'on' before you start the car? Mine doesn't, and I'm wondering if that's the problem. Could the temp switch be making the cold start injector fire when not needed?

Same behavior when warm as when cold.

Might sound silly but how is the Starter Motor/ battery?
Either or both may just be weak enough to not build compression quick enough.
More noticeable on Diesels I know but I had similar on my V12Jag, turning over 12 cylinders or 8 takes a bit of doing!

I was hoping not the starter! Batter has just spent a few days on charge and battery is near new so all ok there. How can you test a starter?

I'm assuming it cranked up the same way before all the fuel system work? In that case I would lean toward the starter as well. When we replaced the starter on my father's 560, it went from the sort of sluggish cranking you're describing to an almost instant on. You could really recognize the improvement.

Sometime we do not realize that the starter is dyng until it actually stops working. I replaced Rose's Starter and was amazed how long I put up with a bad starter.

@!#%^...

Ok, I'll look into this :p

I've heard there's a new style starter compared to the remanufactured older ones. Apparently they are smaller/lighter and have gearing. Should I look for one of these?
