hey all,
Does anyone, when they are driving at about 1000-1500rpm get a vibration that kinda sounds like something is hitting something like plastic on metal sound? I get it, its coming from my shifter but only between 1000-1500rpm. If i move the shifter slightly to the right the noise goes away, I know i need to get my transmission rebuilt but is this caused by something else? tAch maybe?

You may need new mounts and bushings. I replaced the shifter bushings on my 300 SE, there’s no better feeling. [:)]

There can be some lateral play – it will be difficult to tell w/o looking what gear you’re in; the shifter will move too easily from one selection to another. On a car with bushings in good condition the gear select indents will be will defined and firm.

based on what you said jdc, i think my shifter moves firmly throu the gears, it takes some extra effort compared to today's gassers to shift from D to S. I ask my mechanic what he thinks, the car is gonna spend the night there some time next week for some work.
