Just when I was thinking there was nothing else to do on the car....

I noticed this bracket which was a bit loose, it doesn't seem to have a purpose, does anyone know why its there?

You can also see my toothed bolt/tension-er for the PS pump belts is missing, does anyone have the part number for that?

While I was in there I remembered that I had been planning to tidy up the engine harness for the last 10 years but had never got round to it.

Solder and heat shrink.

Engine compartment cloth wiring tape.

High temp sealant.

All back in place.

Very tidy Jim, as always.

Re that bracket on the steering pump - it's in the right spot, just needs to be flipped and rotated so that the slit is facing upwards and can be used to tie the igntion cables wit. Have a look below, sorry for crappy quality but that's best I can do right now.

That’s interesting. I don’t have a bracket/toothed bolt tensioner at all on my 72. I think mine is a different pump though. I have the early style vickers with a conical shaft.

Does anyone know if I should have some sort of tensioning mechanism installed? I’ve always just used the “pry bar” technique on the PS belts.

Looks like the bolt part number is A1174600172 but I really cant tell. In any case I found it right in your country. A1174600172 Mercedes-Benz - Tightening Screw - Manufacturers of spare parts

They also appear to have the boot you repaired P/N A0005462035. Again no pictures so I cant be sure

I stopped at the barn after work and pulled the bolt off the PS. It is as pictured. Postal is easiest for me to ship. I am not sure how that works for you. But UPS and Fed ex are close if that is best to ship to you.

If this is what your asking about, it's just a cable tie bkt. Here's a picture of the proper orientation.
