Old rule of thumb... If your pump(s) 'a humming, you'll soon be a thumbing!Guys, two or three times over the last couple of months the fuel pump has made a medium pitched hum for 5 to 10 seconds after start up. Has anyone experienced this, is it on its way out?
I am still running on the original fuel pump on our 72. At times it has hummed. But for at least a year, I haven't heard a squeak out of it. Don't know what causes it - may be some sort of harmonic vibration but don't know what initiates it.Guys, two or three times over the last couple of months the fuel pump has made a medium pitched hum for 5 to 10 seconds after start up. That's what I thought, although mine may have been humming much longer prior to my ownership.mines been humming for last 2 1/2 yrs, in that time I've done 30,000 km's without a problem ( have a spare just in case)
I change my filter every year, probably a bit of overkill i know, but at least I know my injection system is always performing at optimum levels.

Rule of thumb is change the fuel filter when you change the spark plugs. How often should the fuel filter be changed?
