I discovered Star Motors through a few years of Saab ownership. The owner, Paul, is a Saab guru; so much so, that the Saab dealer about 500 yards away has sent him cars to fix when they can't figure it out. When I went back to Benzs, I got a few estimates on a head gasket job and then tried Star. Well, he just did the head gasket, timing case seal and suspension work on my W124. He was fully familiar w/ the engine, did a very clean and professional job, and didn't kill me on the price. He is currently resealing my Sportline steering box...great guy who will spend the time and not bill you for every minute....

I am close to purchasing a 2003 sl500 with 11,500 miles. The car is located on Long Island (Plainview) I am in Michigan. I need a reputable mechanic to inspect the car for me prior to buying. Car Fax shows most service being done through Mercedes-Manhattan. Any suggestions?
If the seller agrees, why not let MB Manhattan do it. They have a very good shop and I was pleased with their work.

Hi,
I am in West Islip - does he do alot of different services on MB- besides what you had done?
Thanks
I just spoke to Paul at Star Motors and I was impressed that he seemed knowledgable and not expensive. He may be doing a PPI for me on a W140 and if so, I will report in how that goes...

I must recommend Willy's in Great Neck. The guys is honestly a genius. Kinda crazy, but im' not being liberal with the word Genius.

He can look at your car and in 2 minutes know the true cause of the problem. He's kinda like chuck norris of mercedes...swear

Peter Gorsky at P.G. Auto Service in Mineola. 516 747-4430. (Mercedes Benz only)

Of all the knowledgeable Independents in the area, Peter is the least expensive and most qualified. I've seen him do A/C evaporators on late model SLs as well as transmissions in just about any model Benz. He comes in late in the morning and works well into the night. I find this very convenient in terms of picking up and dropping off my cars.

Anybody ever hear of or use German Auto Repair Inc. in Farmingdale? They say they specialize in all German cars.
International Automotive Repairs Inc.

89 E Main St, Huntington, NY 11743
(631) 421-2000

If you are near Huntington, give Angelo a call over at International Auto Repairs. The place is always lined up with plenty of Ferrari's and Alpha's but he does excellent work with Mercedes too. I know Angleo does some work on Formula One engines too. (if you go in the back room he usually has one up there on the lift)

TLC Auto & Truck in Farmingdale. Pete Jr & Sr 631-753-2211

Professional, courteous. Not cheap but not anywhere near Mercedes prices. Mercedes dealer charged thousands to try to fix my Vario roof, they were going to sell me a new roll bar piston next. Pete at TLC found that there was one sensor not functioning in the roof and the pump simply had a allen head bolt not tightened. Top has been working flawlessly.

I saw a lot of Sprinters there. They also have Mercedes software. Highly recommended.
Hello everyone!
I'm Tom, a new member to the forum and I live in Kansas City MO. I don't currently own a Mercedes, but I am looking at a 2002 E55 AMG that is for sale in Westbury NY (on Long Island). I read on here that P.G. Auto Service in Mineola NY has been recommended as a reputable repair shop. That looks to be really close to Westbury, so I was going to call them to see if they would do a PPI on this car. The post about this shop, though, is two years old and when I googled the name/address it came up with several Real Estate MLS entries. Is this shop still in business and under the same ownership? Can anybody still vouch for them? Any help from the forum would be appreciated!

Hello everyone,

Long time; hope all is well.

Sadly, my independent mechanic passed away recently.

Not sure if anyone here knew him, but his name was Peter Gorsky.

I originally learned of him from a Benzworld member many years ago.

Peter’s wife is looking to sell the business, which is on Windsor Court in Mineola.

I’d like to help if possible, so if anyone knows of potential buyers, please let me know.

It’s a garage that can fit 4 cars with many parts and tools for early 70’s through early 90’s Mercedes, and 4 or so spots outside.

Otherwise, can anyone recommend independent shops for me to try in Nassau County, Long Island?

I see many saying Willy’s in Great Neck. Still a good shop? Honest work, reasonable prices?

Please do let me know.

Thank you very much.
