But what are the correct wheels(size, offset, etc) for an 83 SD? I can't find that info in the FAQ. Just like I can't find the info on the proper coolant, or trans oil in the FAQ either. I find the FAQ severely lacking in pertinent info like this. :twak: Actually, it seems to me a lot of newb questions go unanswered in there...

Anyhow, I know these wheels are wrong:

There is an 1/8 inch or les clearance between tire, and the steering linkage. What size tires are right to since I'm asking newb questions anyhow?

126 Ch 300SD 1981-1985 ran a 14x6 ET30 with 195/70/14
some people would increase tire size to a 205/70/14 as on the V8 models.
You can run a 15x7 ET25 that was used on 1986 and newer versions with a 205/65/15 tire.
The wheels that you have right now look the same as the 1986 and newer version, but they are most likely from a different model if they are that close to the suspension. Hope this helps

The proper coolant is from Mercedes part # Q 1 03 0002 ( slight gold color )

The transmission fluid is the Deron III, IV ( Mercon ) It is the red fluid ( I believe Ford uses or used the same fluid )
