Alright guys, ive had enough of this. I've done the searching and the fixing and replacing, but ABS just isnt my game. As everyone knows, the ABS light is the most common issue with our cars. For some reason it likes to come on, and most of the time its a voltage issue, probably from the OVP relay. Well This is a problem that ive had since ive gotten the car. The abs has pretty much always come on. just recently when i wrecked from the brakes locking up while wet, just minor damages that are already fixed, ive felt unsafe in my E. Now its time to figure out whats actually wrong. The past week i ordered a OVP for a second time, this time being the $50 KAE from autohaus. while replacing it i looked for corrosion and made sure it was clean. I took it out immediately and nothing changed. although there have been a couple times where the light actually stayed off the whole trip. but lo and behold, it still comes on. Now last year i got a parts car, taking everything i could from it, including the abs. From it, i replaced the module and the two relays inside of the abs, well nothing happened. Now im come to a hault, having absolutely no idea what to do.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS?!?

That's a different sensor (brake pad wear sensor).

ABS sensors are behind the caliper on the rotor housing. They follow a gear tooth from the inside of the housing.

I assume your brake pad gives a pulsation at times when coming to a stop?

You have 3 lines at the front caliper. A) brake line B) pad ware indicator line C) ABS sensor line. The ABS sensor is held onto the caliper by a single 5mm allen bolt. The sensor is no more than a magnetic pick up. That being said, it will pick up bits of rust from the ring gear.

Once you have the front wheel off, remove the allen bolt and pull the sensor. Check magnetic "trash", clean and re-attach.

In the future, be mindful that ABS doesn't mean a car stops shorter in all cases. It's intent is to keep the car controlled during severe braking situations.

Good luck

My ABS dash light doesn't work but the ABS does. These cars are complex in their simplicity
