I recently replaced my rear rotors and pads on my 1997 SL, they were making a high pitched squeel at low pedal pressure during stop and go traffic driving. The calipers seemed fine according to my Indy . He used standard MB pads but the noise is still there at low pedal pressure, the car stops well and there is no noise at all on harder braking. I had the pads de glazed and this did not help, today we are replacing the pads again.. At one time I owned a 2002 ML-500 and the brakes howled from the time I took it out of the new showroom until the day I got fed up with it and traded it on an E 500 which hasn't had those problems. Is there an inherent brake problem with models using the 5 litre engine ,,,any ideas on what this might be if the pad change doesn't work. Thanks

Thanks Mitchell...They seem to have gotten it right this time, they replaced the pads and used some paste on the piston and pads. You know what surprized me was how easy it is to replace pads on these cars, I have done pads on GM's but this is a cakewalk ! Cheers, off to Calgary this weekend so the SL will get a 1500 mile run..looking forward to it ..See you next fall for coffee !!
