Brake squeel is the noise produced from the pads vibrating at a high frequency.
The first thing to do is put some grease between the piston and pad - copper slip or specialised grease made by the likes of Mintex.
If this fails, then 3M do a rubberised shim which may cure it.
It is not necessarily the pads vibrating between the piston and disc - if the pads are a tad sloppy in their housing, this too can cause the squeel. It is here where the 3M shims work well.
