Noisy Power Steering, ADS light on

Full reservoir, no signs of leaking beneath the car, no aeration visible in the reservoir. But a very noisy pump and a lit up ADS light (I'm pretty sure they're ran off the same pump, right?)
Power steering still functions, any advice before I take the plunge and dig the pump out? Seems like a bit of a pain in the ass with the M120 in the way so I'd like to exhaust my options before the inevitable rebuild :)

When the ADS malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated, it signifies the presence of a diagnostic trouble code—be sure to retrieve and review it.

Your vehicle is equipped with a tandem pump: a piston pump for the ADS and a vane pump for the power steering, both operating on the same shaft.

These pumps rarely fail. When they do, the most probable causes are degraded hydraulic fluid or having run dry.

Also what is the color of your fluid? That could be the cause of your noisy pump. This fluid should be almost transparent with no color. Almost the same color as if you have been drinking a lot of water 😂.

My pump was a bit noisy after doing some work on the front suspension which required me to disconnect the lines to the struts. I think the fluid had also been changed once prior to my ownership. Had to bleed the pump to get all the air and old fluid out. Also bleeding at each leveling valve is good to do. Just be careful under the vehicle when doing it. You can get the fluid from RM European or AutohausAZ for ~10-15 a quart.

I would start there with fluids along with reading the codes before you tear anything apart to replace the pump.

Thabks for the detailed replies Will
The Power steering was pinkish... Non-zero chance someone put the wrong fluid in and the car doesn't like it. Lack of a physical leak tells me that the pump seals and lines are okay so hopefully it's just that, what's the best way to flush this system?

Also is the ADS reservoir the narrow one next to the wiper fluid? I'm out of town at the moment and going off a picture I took of my engine bay.
