I have a 1993 300se inline 6 cylinder 85000 miles (bought it new); on a cold start one of the lifters is noisey for a few seconds, then quiets. Changing lifters is expensive according to the dealership,
so I am wondering if anybody has had any experience with this issue and maybe tried Mobile 1 oil. I am interested in finding out if the mobile 1 resists leaking down to the pan as fast as traditional oil and thus offer some residual lubrication relative to traditional Dino oil.

Noisy lifters are usually caused by buildup of carbon..

Flush the engine Hot....Drain and change the filter.. fill with cheap oil get hot for 30 mins..flush again ..Look at all that muck.. change filter fill with mobil1 listen.. relax .. enjoy..
