Just went to the car wash. Got back home, noise fan like, lower dash drivers side. Had to disconnect battery to make quiet.

Just listened again, more like a little motor. Sound is definitely coming from behind the "carpeted knee pad" attached and directly below the dash, drivers side

Carl;

I didn't know there was a door buzzer, 1987 560sl. Is it like a "door ajar" buzzer? The noise i'm getting is like small fan, that's running rough?
Not very loud, in fact didn't hear while driving home, just idling in the driveway. I mentioned the car wash, as I thought, something there could have jarred something loose???

Yes, there is a door ajar buzzer. As these cars age things don't work
as well. The buzzer in my 380SL sometimes sounds odd.

The heater blower is under the hood in the center.
There is a motor for the clock in the instrument panel.
Electric motor for the window.
Other than that, can't think of anything else.
