I will be posting a few seperate problems that my 80+ grandparents are having with their 2001 e320.

My Gpa said that it is takes a couple of blocks for the car to fully take off after the first time that you start it for the day. It will go 15 mph for a while and you can play with the throttle before it finally takes off. Sometimes up to four blocks. The rest of the starts are fine as far as normal driving would go for a pair of 80year olds.

You can try to resent the trany.

CPS, O2 sensor are possible too.

Your granny in cold area?

Standard on all Benzes. Initial up-shift is delayed while engine is cold, so that catalytic converters can warm up faster. Check the owners guide - it's documented there as well.
