My 300cd hangs me out to dry on occasion because my tranny doesn't kick down a gear when accelerating. Any suggestions?

Bruce

Try turning off the power emergency brake (the AC).

Check to see if your throttle bracket is in good shape, sometimes it wont give the transmission the full swing to engage the kick down.

Move the shifter to second.

Austin

Could be as simple as the carpet rucking under the throttle pedal.
Or at worst the adjusment on the activating leaver on the side of the gearbox is out.
Happy motoring,
Bruce

I found that my well worn Fuel pedal was not pressing the kickdown switch behind it. So I added a peice of dense stick on foam under the pedal. This made the switch activate a whole lot easier. No longer did I have to smash on the pedal to make it kick down, now it only takes normal pressure.
