Fellow Mercedes 190E 16V owner is organizing a random 80s European performance sedan/coupe Harriman State Park & Bear Mountain Run. It’s not an official meet or anything. Just some random meet up and 2 hour road trip event cruising through some of the North East’s prettiest fall foliage.

I’m hoping to gather all type of 80s European performance sedan, coupe, or convertible. i.e. Alfa 75, Saab 900 turbo, Peugeot 505 Turbo, VW scirocco, Audi coupe quattro, Mercedes 2.3-16 and Bimmers. Old Porsches are welcome too. Please help spread out the word if you know who owns one. One of the kind event in the area.

Cars: Recruiting all types of 80s European performance sedans and coupes.
When: 9:30AM, Saturday 10/22/2011
Where: Sharaton Hotel, Mahwah, New Jersey – entrance on Rt. 17 North

Hope to see you there!

Any suggestion for this meet up is welcome.

I'm in. I'll check with Levent from Guten Parts to see if he wants to come, too.

So, those TriState 16V’ers that want to hangout and socialize -it looks to be a fun, low-key gathering of you folks!

Hope to see y'all there!

If you guys can make it just reply.

I'm going to sticky this to keep it active. Post pictures please. I absolutely won't be driving stick shift by the 22nd. I'd love to take my 16V for a ride out that way, it's stored less than an hour from the meeting spot! There should be good showing of vintage euro up that way with Rapid Parts in the area and that big VW/Audi scene up there. I believe that's area where Waterfest started! I was there!

Aw man...that's just north of my old stomping grounds. I know I only have a 2.3 8v, but I love Harriman State Park. I wish I could come up and join you guys. I alternate weekends driving up to NY/NJ for work + girlfriend...and this coming weekend I can't come up :crybaby2::crybaby2:

Hope you guys have fun! POST PIX!

I totally forgot about this! My 16v race car is in the shop, but I could have brought the E30 at least.

I'll try to make the next one.

Sorry guys, things came up and it was an hour late to catch the meet. My brake cyclinder failed and the Ramsey Peugeot spent 2 hours fixing the problem. Guess some of you had gone ahead to the park by yourselves.

Harriman Run Report

I went to the Sheraton for the Harriman 80's-Euro run.

The morning was crisp and over the period of two hours after dawn, approximately 146 Toyota MR-2 automobiles gathered for their fall run. I was overwhelmed. I noted that none of these MR-2 vehicles had any damage on them. Each car's paint was polished, each car's interior was complete and clean and as each vehicle pulled up in a line, none of the engines knocked. In fact, each one had a strong sounding, tuned motor. I saw no collapsed suspensions, no oil trails and no missing or damaged body parts. The owners grouped up for photos and did a walk around to see each others' automobiles. I was impressed by the love of their cars.

I did not see a single 80's-Euro car other than my 16v anywhere near the Sheraton hotel. I was hard pressed to find any Euro automobile there. I saw Nissans, Hondas and Toyotas. An occasional Ford drove by.

Maybe one day we all can gather and do a run and show up the MR-2 crowd. I would look forward to that.

Just got off the phone with Sean, who wanted me to post for him since he has no data reception up in the hills. He's still up there enjoying the park and waiting for any stragglers who might decide to drop by late.

He's really bummed that he was late due to mechanical trouble, but that's part of the game when you drive classics like ours! I guess that's part of the cost of trying to keep the torch lit

He's going to organize something a little simpler for us 16v and "random Euro performance sedan" geeks. Stay tuned for details...

Thats's to bad. I do like the first picture you have up, of the hotel with your 16V peeking out of the left hand corner. Despite the lack of 80's euro cars besides your's, you gave the other people with japanese vehicles, a glance at what they're missing. ;)

Yeah, kind of a downer too hear the lack of '80s euro cars. I used to live in that area and there was a pretty big euro scene. I was hoping to so see all the Cloverleaf 164s and 405 Mi-16s that I know live in that area out an about...

Lomtevas, you get a A+ for effort! Thanks for posting pictures and representing with your classic!

'80 Performance Euro's Run Reschedule

No sponsors, scheduled too early on Saturday morning and there was a big VW/Audi event coming along on the next day in Augusta... It’s our first attempt and we are passionate enough to do a second one at Sheraton, Mahwah on Sunday, Nov 6th @12:30PM. This time I’ll be having some help from our fellow 16vers arranging the meet up. Some active members from BigCoupe.com and Alfa Romeo Club also show their interests too.

Last Saturday I was late to get there due to the brake cylinder failure incidence. Thanks for the effort Lomevas and hope to see you in the next meet. I used to be one of the MR2 guy there bringing my pristine ’94 MR2 to the annual Bear Mountain Meet every year that inspired me to do a rally for our Euro old schoolers.

Those cars are still alive on the mountain. This time some Peugeot 405 Mi16 guys will be joining us too. Here are some pre-run photos and a 190 meet pic at the MBCA June annual Jamboree with Emre and Dave.
