New to this forum but a Mercedes man for years. Bought an 85, 380SL this past winter and just love driving it top down. Wife and I went on the Dragon (Tennessee)

last weekend and turned a lot of heads.
I have learned so much already from you guys about this car, thanks for this place. Awaiting a monovalve rebuild kit from Russia (3 months) Maybe I'll have heat come winter. Other than the clock not working this is a great ride. Had a new top put on last month. Could use repainting, but I can't see spending half the price of the car again to do it. Any help or tips is always appreciated.

Nice. I like the German license plate. I put them on both my 380SL and 560SL.
Regarding painting, I like to see a little "patina" on a cleaned and polished car. I am in the "save the original paint and impeccably clean car" club.

Monovalve rebuild kit from Russia was junk. Went with the BMW valve. Works great. Having the car detailed and ceramic coated. I'm with you, "save the original paint." That license plate says it all.

It looks like us guys who remember old "Give 'em hell Harry" and the "I like Ike Buttons" have a very different point of view than some of our younger friends. That's what makes it a horse race.
