Good morning everyone,

I've been looking for used Mercedes through CL, and I stumbled upon this beauty...1986 560SEC, 202k miles on it, little bit of rust, part of the headliner needs to be glued. Engine and transmission is ok. All for $1600!!! I was planning to take a look at her, what do you think?

Just don't get too excited about the "PALOMINO LEATHER SUNROOF" okay?

It's not that big an add.

Pretty sure this one has been on and off the market for quite a while.

The guy on the line said it just needs some TLC, but otherwise, it's a great car. But I noticed the hood looks a little off, maybe there was some front end damage. I was hoping to negotiate maybe $1000.

If you can get it for $1000-$1200 I'd say gopherit. Ask the guy if the rear SLS works before you lay out your cash though.

Hard to tell in the picture, but it doesn't appear o sitting low. More pictures would do great and for you to see it better also.

Go for it. But know that it will take a whole ton of money to keep it on the road and fix whatever is wrong with it, bro. I've had mine and purchased it from an awesome & well-respected member of this forum (although I didn't even know about the forum when I bought it from him on e-Bay). Were it not for the fact that he has been a great source of advice over the years, coupled with the fact that I live about 5 miles from the biggest Benz boneyard in the US, I would have had to dump it years ago. Not meaning to discourage you. IMHO, the 560 SEC is the finest production car ever made. I believe it was the last handmade production car in the world, although I don't recall where I heard that. I've had tons of cars, including 7 or 8 MBs, including two very expensive late model ones which I promptly got rid of. I'm sure you will enjoy it if you go for it, but just know what you're getting into. As the saying goes, there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes. Except, perhaps, for a free boat ;-)
