Hello everyone.
Well here I am, another Greek to join your group. "Kalispera" to my countrymen and speakers of the language.

I have had my eyes set on this gorgeous SL320 for a while now, few months, and well I ended up submitting to the urge about a week ago...

Here she is, pic courtesy of the dealer...

She has 100k kms, and is in tip top shape. Final edition, registered in Germany May 2001, imported in 2006 to Greece.

Few things were needed, one was a revamp of the speakers, new tweeters as I hate titanium - too harsh - and a new amp. It did come with a pioneer head unit with tv, so that is not so bad.

Next thing is suspension, I am booked Thursday for H&R and hd bilstein's. Will let you know and post pics (hopefully before and after). Car is way to wobly as is...

Took the hardtop off yesterday as the weekend was very much spring-like to resist... top down motoring sure helped me amortize about 30% of the value in about a day!!!!!!!!

The car is great! I am thrilled as I think it was the deal of the century. Having sold my 911 in November as a defensive move to the "crisis" we are into, I so needed a weekend toy, and I think this is was just great value. So i am thrilled to be here, and I thank you for all the valuable info I have picked up in the last few months I have been lurking around.

More pics on the way I promise!!

Kαλινυητα dianic and welcome in our big and friendly family and many congratulations for your purchase.
I have to say that your car is very nice and very close to the Silver Arrow Edition they had in the American market in 500 and 600 fashion, probably drilled rotor included.
Please feel free to post the pics of your car in the sticky pics thread together with other people cars.
Oh by the way I'm not Greek and my knowledge of the Greek language unfortunately is extremely limited but I wanted to welcome you here in your own language :). I just hope I said and spelled it right. You will love every second you spend with it :D.

Good luck with your new car.

Cheers.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

My 1998 SL500 that I bought last year spent most of it's time in Athens. I bought it from a pilot that flew executive jets out of Athens.

I have some receipts for work done in Athens but I can't understand a word of them :eek::eek:

Nah dont worry its an invoice for a type B service, spark plugs and a repair of a leak on the transmission (20 minutes invoiced = tightening a screw??). This was in 2004 though and the car only had 35.000kms at the time! nice find.

RKH rebuilding a total wreck would have cost more than 480 Eur!!!!!

I assume your car had foreign plates RedLiner? Makes no sense to re-export a car that has paid silly greek duties!!

It now has 45,000Kms, and yes, it has British plates. The previous pilot owner didn't import it into Greece because of those ridiculous duties.
At some point I have to import it into Spain which will cost around 2600 Euros :mad:

Ouch RedLiner that will hurt. But since you have double citizenship I think can't you keep British regs and avoid Spanish duties even if UK road tax will become quite expensive this year?

Cheers.

In theory I must have it transferred to Spanish plates because I'm a Spanish national, however I only carry my UK Gibraltar drivers licence around and if stopped "No speaky Spanish" :D

Again to keep it UK legal I would have to drive the car all the way to the UK just for an MOT test (annual vehicle roadworthiness inspection).

True RedLiner I totally forgot about the annual MOT. But if you knew someone that knew someone ... you know what I'm talking about don't you? ;).

Cheers.

There was another bill for over 1000 Euros, the previous owner did say that they had changed the softtop windshield hydraulic cylinders.

Replaced filters, oil, and air.

And some small parts.
