Got my 73 450 SLC running and am starting the restoration (expensive as it may be). This will be a drive as I restore project. Redid the brakes and rotors today. Taking it to get new tires in the next couple of hours. My question is this. What fuel do I need to run? The guy I bought it from said he ran premimum unleaded and also put a bit of ATF fluid in at every fill up??? Is this needed? Any/all help is greatly appreciated.

For my 73 450SL I simply use regular unleaded. That appears to the the recommended fuel for this vintage. I don't mess with any additives.

I read a long time ago, on which forum I can't recall, that back in the day MB recommended 500ml of ATF per tank of fuel.
