Dude this is beyond easy, lift the hood, you'll see the bolts/screws holding the stock grill in place, simply remove them with the hood straight up, then just remove the stock grille with care, pop the new one in, and just tighten up the bolts/screws again.

That's all that is involved.

Ok I admit I am useless. I bought a new style (star in the centre type) grill for my W208. It comes with no instructions (Thanks for nothing www.55tech.com) and I am not sure how to fit it.

Any one have any ideas ?

Hi Tricky UK

Where did you buy the grill from? and if you dont mind me asking how much as I want oen too!?

As for fitting it, it is striaght forward. Just open the bonnet and raise up. Have a look underneath and you will see aboue half a dozen hex head bolts, which you just undo with a socket set. Fit the new grill and re-bolt in place with the old bolts, done !

I have taken a photo showing the bolts, sorry its night time but you can see clearly enough.

PS let me know about the cost and source of the grill mate. Cheers

A1ek - I have a used single star grille that I removed off my 01' CLK55. I'm located in the states and not sure what shipping would be to Scotland but PM if you are interested and want photos. It was used for about 3 months (summer) and in brand new condition. I'll let it go for 110 (USD) plus s/h.

Hi,

I bought the grille from www.55tech.com on ebay (See item Mercedes CLK320 CLK430 W208 GRILLE Grill CLK 350 SILVER on eBay, also Badges, Exterior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 20-May-08 09:15:36 BST) )

I did a deal with them to buy a flat hood badge and some chrome rings to go round the headlights and they only charged the £25 postage on the grille. The guy is helpfull but admits that there are no fitting instructions available.

Getting the old grille off is a piece of cake but the fittings on the new grille are not exactly the same. I will send you some pics this weekend to explain.

OK. I think your talking about a style of clips that I had on my old W210 Grill, its still straight forward enough and i'll explain if you have photos.

As for buying the grill on ebay from overseas, did you not have to pay import tax on the package?

u need to use like a flathead screwdriver and pry off those old clips (that the screws ACTUALLY screw into) on ur old grille ...then just slide em off...tighten em a bit with some plier and slide em into the respective slots on the new grille and just try tightenin a bit more...then jus place ur grille on the hood and screw in....make sure ur hood lever is in the proper opening...

No the package came throuhg with no tax to pay but I gather that its a bit hit and miss as to the tax man noticing and adding the tax.

Finally got the grill fitted, so if you need images or advice fitting please email me on [email protected] (as I cannot figure out how to use the add image facility on this site).
