Hi guys,
thought I give it a try here. My name's Thomas, I'm from Germany and somehow - like most here I guess - infected by the MB virus. I own three old (classic?) cars:

A 1967 W111 250SE/C cabriolet, originally from California. I bought it here in Germany from a dealer, not knowing anything about its history. By accident I found out (had a bad copy of an older title) that I bought a first-hand car; first owner Jerry Perenchio from Los Angeles. Via some "rich property" sites and google maps I could locate his villa and sent him - totally old-fashioned - a letter with the car data and some photos. He actually answered and confirmed, that he kept the car 'til 2012 as "it was the first car he paid cash for at Mercedes Hollywood" ... nice story (picture taken on holidays in France):

The other car is a 1986 R107 500SL; I own it since 2004. It's completely original and has a bit of a special spec: the quite rare "trip computer" (only about 50 R107 were delivered with it) and it's one of a handful of R107 that were delivered off factory with velours seats. Driven it for about 50,000kms since 2004 (here in Ireland):

Last but not least, my nightmare of the last seven years; cost me an arm and a leg as well as quite a bit of hair and sleepless nights: An original W115 Pick-Up from Argentina. Took me two years to get it out of Argentina, two years of prototyping the V8 conversion (M117 5.0), two years of body works (1,350 hours without paint job) and a good year of completion. Has got some "specials", basically everything "new" including motor and gearbox, complete drive train from a 1983 R107 500SL, etc. etc. Maybe interesting for you US guys: I threw out the heater box and installed a restomodair Bantam II heater/aircon unit; as "usual" with this project, time and money consuming.

Well, that's it for now; maybe I can contribute a bit in the future.
Kind regards
Thomas

Welcome to the forum Thomas,
Beauties!

The forum index is organized / grouped according to chassis designation, usually a letter followed by 3 digits / numbers, and sections cover all engine / versions the chassis came with.

To find the forum section = chassis for your car, please click FIND YOUR FORUM SECTION
And Complete your Profile by adding the year and model of your car, so it will show next to every future post.
Members are not likely to search for the one post the model of the car is mentioned.

The forum section archives have a wealth of DIY / technical information.
When researching an issue / posting, you can also Search the forum archives of your chassis section via the 'Search Community' box on top..

The stickies on top of the 'Welcome' section will help to navigate the site.
