Greetings, all! I've been living over in the W126 forum for the last 8 years with my 87 300SDL. Due to a bent rod at almost 450,000, I'm now the proud owner of a 1995 E300D! It has just over 145,000 miles, and appears to have been fairly well kept, and recently gone through by one of my Florida mechanics. List of recent work: rebuilt transmission (reverse was out), new head gasket and glow plugs, new coolant reservoir, new filters, new belt tensioner, New paint (decent two-stage), new brake pads all around. I'm amazed at how much quieter the interior is, compared to my 126. I miss the turbo of the 603 motor, but this does the job just fine, albeit differently. I'll post more pics once I get it well cleaned, etc.

Rob

You're welcome. You'll get to love the nature of the multivalve diesel once you realize that this engine really likes to rev, whereas the OM603 is pretty much out of breath and done for when it starts reaching 4000-4500.

And there is usually quite a bit of power to be recovered by removing the oxidation catalyst and cleaning up the intake tract to make it breathe.

What is red line on this motor?

Great looking car. I'm in the process of buying a 1995 E320 Cabriolet (same color as yours) w/ 92,000 miles on it. Need to do some work to the pistons that control the top and clean it up. I think I'm stealing it at $3,000 but it needs a lot of work to the paint. I'll be replacing shocks, change the trans filter & seal up the pan (leaking a little).
