Hey guys, first, thank you, all those who answered my last post.

Got a new battery (under the rear seat!!!) car started, rough, really rough, but then that is another issue, the door locks work, no windows, no trunk.

The infra remote seems to operate on the ignition and on the doors, I always thought that when the door locks are open, so is the trunk, so I figure that I have to call a locksmith. I heard that the trunk vacum pump is not the same as the doors ?

Any input wil be appreciated

The trunk lock could have been changed at some point but you don't have the right blade for it.

Have you checked fuses for windows and trunk locks? Not sure about the vacuum pump. I thought there is only one.

syncronize the windows by pushing each button all the way down, one at a time. I believe you do it for ten seconds, windows will work again. For the trunk I think you leave the key in ignition for a minute on the on position, without turning on engine.

I am glad you din't fry a key, and from your other post this was a budget auction piece.

Yes, you need to follow the reset procedures outlined in the owners manual, and check fuses, always a good course.

The windows "should" be able to be operated from either/or the console or the door panel switches (as long as the rear aren't locked out from the safety console switch).

Report back if ALL switches aren't working or just the console.

The key/trink lock, if the key inserts, but the lock doesn't turn, yes the lock could have been replaced (unusal but could happen) - or more comon the trunk lock could be corroded/frozen. DeoxIt contact cleaner can be used on that lock, if it is frozen you progressively try to free it up a little at a time with the key, respray, then a little more, success can come after being patient and working it a bit spray/insert-turn/repeat. You don't want to break that key.

"Running rough" can be a host of things, since your battery incident you could have erased stored codes if there is a system malfunction. Do a couple of basics - pull the air cleaner element and replace with a OE Mann element from aftermarket/internet, throw a good fuel system cleaner into the tank (Techron or Lucas), pull and clean the MAF using the instr in the stickies with CRC MAF cleaner (NOT the DeoxIt, although you can use that to clean the cable connector).. see if you get a CEL by driving a bit, and have a code reader handy to pull codes.

You bought a a good price you said at auction, start with the basics, see where that leads with patient effort and you could end up with a good "score" - others who start right away by throwing money without patience and start replacing OE parts with retail auto parts store parts at a MB often find themsleves frustrated and broke.

Good luck !

The trunk lock can be tricky. Not too many owner use the blade key on it EVER and it tends to corrode. I was trying to use mine going on the beach, when hiding the ignition key in the trunk and taking the blade only with me did sound like the best way, but even after spraying lot of WD40 inside the tumbler and exercise it for few minutes - all I got was going from 1/2 blade insertion to full insertion. Still didn't turn. I gave up and took the remote with me.

Sometimes it's best to nurse it over a couple of days of patience, some have actually broken off a key back there - another reason I recommend DeoxIt is that stuff is pretty good at freeing up the type of corrosion back in there, which I think it comes from a bit of electrolysis, since the lock parts are softer/different metal and corrode faster like a electrode back there.

Well, the trunk is still locked, I also noticed that nothing in the console works, no windows, trunk switch, mirrors, the seats work, but then the controls are on the door ?

See one of the other posts on this, you can you the "search" function on the forum to get many more so you know what you are looking at if you end up going in on that console switch.

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w21...ric-windows-mirror-trunk-release-console.html

You can also try "cleaning" the switch mechanism, and the connector, usinfg DeoxIt contact cleaner from Radio Shack ebfore and that "might" work before ultimate replacement.

Keep the beat !
