I have always wanted one and finally found a single owner with some miles but great shape. I leaks anywhere. Originally an Arizona car.
couple of questions that I have?

nav- states not installed. The only slot I have behind screen is cassette. I do have a multi cd cartridge in rear. Can I get nav for this ML with what I have? Or just swap stereo for newer? Also Bose system.
Also missing a piece from rear bumper. Can anyone tell me what it is? See pics.
Also owner couldn’t find cars handbook. eBay?

Nav do not bother, the maps are so out of date you will get warnings you are on unimproved roads! Best to change out the head unit and use preferred phone app. The nav in our 04 works it is fun every now and then for laughs.


As to the plate it is center bumper cover sometimes called hitch cover plate. Though it needs to be notched for the hitch. There is a prenotched hitch version but rare I have never seen one on an ml with a MB hitch even dealer installation they cut the plate. In fact M B published a service bulletin on how to cut it with dimensions.

They are ordered by color, last I looked some colors were still availablenot sure on the gold. Will be very hard to find you color at a pick apart.

+2 on changing the oem HU.
You probably have FO (fiber optic) Bose. You'll need to by-pass the proprietary FO amp system, etc OR do the loop-da-loop on the FO cable when swapping.

ML55amg wheels? maybe?
Find yourself some ML55 amg 18" wheels and keep those for winter shoes.

Thanks for the responses. You can then just update the head unit and still use the Bose system amp? I have read the fiber optics just controls the cd

Bose amp has to be gutted (literally) - that's what I did in my situation and re-purposed the shell and it's oem connectors.

meh, color match the code or sample, with a suicide can (you can buy custom matches, I do, when needed - doesn't cost that much more) or add a trailer hitch back there with a step bar.
I hate drivers who can't parallel park. If they want to damage there bumpers....

Your vehicle has styling package code U49 with color 693U.
Number for that cover was 163 880 04 05 1693. It changes to 163 880 04 05 9999 which is primer.

I got really lucky - DeadBenzAnimator had the factory hitch cover with cutout for factory hitch, and in my color! It had lots of overspray on it of different colors, but lacquer thinner cleaned it up perfectly. BTW, does the job on touch-up paint... and yes, it's a factory cut out, not trimmed in any way. Picture from 2021 eBay receipt...

Lots written on hitches, there are 4 parts get a hitch from a pick and pull yard. Best to get an MB hitch Bring a very good breaker bar the bolts are usually lock tired and torque high!

1x Hitch and 4 bolts

2x corner brackets and 8 bolts and sleeves

1x MB wire harness left access panel to hitch (you can splice it in but the plug and play MB is painless) don’t forget the fuse?

Yes there are other brands but they usually do not have corner brackets which increases towing to max 5000lbs

Many of the after market hitches tend to have a gusset plate welded from the receiver to the mounting plate. Every part on a MB hitch is labeled with a part number it will start W163 xxx….

Notice the notch in the bumper! The bumper will not attach with out it
