Hi after looking around for a while I finally found nice w140 coupe(always wanted 1), had it inspected pre purchase by a Merc specialist, good report so I made an offer and drove it home, 500 miles it ran sweet, it is a 1994 with ads, black leather, rear blind, 18inch lorinsors, runs sweet, 120,000 miles full service history, the rear speres were done 4years ago, The only thing that I am not sure about is after about 2 hours when parked the rear goes down an inch, IS this Normal????? Cheers from Australia Andrew

Congrats on the new S coupe; they really are the ultimate car.

I believe this is normal. The car has a hydraulic self leveling rear suspension. As long as it pressurizes and raises back up to level when the car is started it should be operating correctly.

It's not normal for the rear to lower, but it's conceivable if the valve is leaking down internally allowing fluid to return to the reservoir when the car is parked.

Congrats on the acquisition and hope it treats you well. I know you guys pay a pretty penny over there even on the used market.

I think Brett San Diego is talking about the valve towards the rear of the car that has an arm which senses rear suspension height and allows fluid pressure to the accumulators accordingly. It might be allowing fluid to flow back towards the pump when the cars sits. If you follow the lines to the accumulators forward you will find the valve. Congrats on a great purchase. My coupe is my favorite car ever and I'm 55.

Last Sept I sold my 95 E320 coupe when I found a near perfect 97 S500 coupe with 93,000 miles. Black/black. I thought the 320 coupe was a nice car but there is absolutely no comparison. Hope you enjoy yours.
