New radio installation and now looks like antenna not working

Just got a Kenwood system installed and the installer put a switch in the trunk for me to get antenna up or down, all is fine but is this antenna receiving power to boost or amplifie because no other cables going to antenna except for antenna cable to radio unit

Radio is not working really good when away from city

    My CL500 2001 with command system is acting crazy - the tape flap opens when you start the car and will do this 3 or 4 times when you drive away and beep each time - it will not accept a tape either - has anyone come across this or even better a fix for this? :) Thanks
