hi everyone !!!!ololol
i will upload some pics of my baby lATER
i just recently got a 87 2.3 16v manel .... it runs but there was a "click" sound like the piston hitting the top !!!...i thought it was just need a engine top rebuilt.. however , i took it to a mercede shop and like first they code me that it just need a value job and maybe adjustment, so like they code me $1500 for everything. two days later after they took the engine head off .. they said that two of piston is too loss which needa take the whole engine out and rebuilt it... coded 6K for the job ....
i am not really sure whether or not he is tryin to rip me off ... so like i was wondering what is the normal price ... i will upload the video of the click sound .... i recorded it the day that i brought it

Welcome to the forum!!!

My opinion: The rod - shaft bearings were completely shot and damaged the piston heads by kicking them into the head and valves and who knows what else...major problem and major repairs involved there imho...

About the prices, you need answers from members in your area (US I guess)...

ooo yea !!!! so how much is it gonna be in there ???caz like a friend of mine got a engine rebuilt for a E320 which is a V6 and he get it done for 3K... so like iuno

depending what place you take it too really. there are differnt labor rates all over the place. 6k sounds a bit steep, but it could be the fact that its a 16v.

the previous owners of mine rebuilt the engine and they gave me all the records for everything and it was a $6200 dollar job, sorry man that sucks i hope you can find it cheaper or rebuild yourself if you can haha

...no wonder it was beating on the head (valves, plugs, god knows, everything there...)... this leads me to severe oil lubrications - oil pump - problems too (considering that this engine had the fixing before)... been there, replaced that...

Anthe grille insert: paint it black:

...and if your grille chrome stripes are damaged (they seem intact, but the pic isn't detailed on it) you can order new ones (from a parts dealer or MB) using the following codes (carefull, when removing them just slide them to the exterior):

Garnish moulding alongside: A 201 888 03 85
Garnish moulding transverse left: A 201 888 05 85
Garnish moulding transverse right: A 201 888 06 85
