The engine sounds like it need more work to be done because it's has a clicking sound and I'm pretty sure that's not how an engine sounds. Anyway I'm contemplating if I go for a new engine or just fix the problem.

What are your suggestions?.
If this is your first car why would you want an expensive project car? #1) the repair costs on these cars can be ridiculously high unless you can perform the repair competently yourself . #2) Do you have any idea what you’re going to be facing to replace an engine for this car? #3) Assuming the dealer is selling it “As is” you will have no recourse if it turns out to be a POS. You will be stuck with it, and probably be kicking yourself because now you have no transportation.#4) What repairs does the dealer say it needs? #5) If you’re really determined to buy it, pay to get it inspected by an independent mechanic/ shop so you are an informed buyer as to the problems with the car and the cost to get it repaired properly. It may be that the cost to repair far exceeds the value of the vehicle in which case let the dealer keep the car.

Find a car that doesn't need any major work. And don't change the interior color. It costs a lot more than you think to do repairs and they're not always successful afterwards. Then what do you do? A convertible is also not a great car for a first car. They didn't sell that many so not too many people have them here so can't really give you any advice on it. If you have any issues with the up/down mechanism, you're going to hear crickets for help.

And what's the mileage of the car? If the seats are worn out, that's not a good sign. If the mileage is high probably lots of other parts that are worn out and will need replacing. You basically need several thousands handy to keep up with normal repairs as a car ages. Brakes, transmission fluid, springs, struts, shocks, upper/lower control arms, ball joints, tensioners/pulleys, motor mounts, sway bar links, tie rods, etc. Even a used engine is anywhere from $2500-$4000 with a very short warranty. And that doesn't even include labor.
