Here is a little bit about me,

I have 21 years experience in shaping aircraft and automotive materials from the flat to all desired shapes. My expertise using the English Wheel has gotten me jobs for many design houses in England, Europe, and now the USA. I am now located in Denver, Colorado as a freelance custom metal worker with my own fully equipped work shop.

I served a 4 year engineering apprenticeship with Jaguar in Coventry, England. My first project involved the XJ220: an all aluminum bodied super car, which held the crown of ‘Worlds Fastest Production Car‘ for 3 years, until being taken over by the stylish Mclaren F1. The XJ220′s panels were initially all hand formed, until the low volume run of which they were part pressed and then finished by hand.

After being involved in many more prototype builds with the Jaguar, I went further afield to gain experience with companies including Bentley, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, and Lotus. I then went further afield again (geographically) to Europe, where my longest spell was in Osnabruck, Germany for a year. Projects included the phase 2 restyle of the Landrover Discovery and the new Volkswagon Beetle convertible at the Wolfsburg plant.

The next stage took me to California, USA to a concept vehicle builder that supplied majority of the vehicles for the Detroit Motor Show. Within that time I became a freelance metal worker forming my own business ‘The Metal Surgeon.’

I will be posting about the complete front end metal work rebuild on a 1957 300SL
