All I can say is use your best judgement after spending lots of hours reading the forum posts here. Also keep in mind MB parts and labor are expensive.
500SLs are all "Euro spec" as they were never sold by MB in the U.S. A true 1986 model will have the updated sub-frame. Other than that refer to Abiby's response.
Pictures and more info. needed to say if it is worth $5K.
Good point Rowdie, but considering the oddities in titles for Euro models, unless you know the date of manufacture, it still might be a good idea to check.
I totally agree. A true '86 MY would be kind of rare here in the U.S. It was at the very end of the grey market years. A 1 time exemption for a service member?
