Hello,

New here in fact first time MB owner and first Diesel car.

Ive just come into possession of a 2009 GL320 Bluetec, I know very little about the car and am having a few issues.

The car is a GL320, 2009, 245K KM's, Supposedly the timing chain has been renewed and the DPF has been deleted. The car came with very little history.

It drives fine, straight no wobbles, squeaks or banks, but there seem to be a few issues with the engine, or at least I assume they are issues. As I said I've never owned a diesel before so I'm not familiar with the characteristics. I may be asking silly questions but its the only way to learn.

Initially the AC wasnt working, I had it serviced, it needed 0.2Lbs, still didnt work (the tech seems to think the compressor clutch is stiff) is this likely? half way home from the garage started to work. Now its not functioning, I wnted to check the compressor relay and have looked online for a diagram but so far have been unsuccessful. any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

After messing around with the AC we started to get a strong smell of exhaust / diesel in the cabin, it comes and goes, any suggestions as to why?

The exhaust produces clouds of smoke and stinks like an old fashioned diesel truck, again any suggestions why?

Thanks in advance

Isn't that why you bought truck with deleted emission system?
Not familiar with GL, but MB stop putting AC clutches on cars back in 2003, so I wonder if that is what you mechanic call stiff?
You need to find highly -qualified mechanic for this truck and in US the law forbids licenced mechanic to work on vehicle with emission delete. I wonder if Canada plan to follow?
How are intake flaps?

check if you see diesel on engine (foor of the injectors). Does not sound good, either problems witn injectors, turbo or bad programming. Hope EGR delete IS done by programming....?
