Buy a metal polish called Never Dull. We used it in the Navy and you can use it on any surface. We used it on the light covers to get off the paint. It will not damage the plastic and it will even polish up the lense covers. It is the most amazing stuff. You can buy it at Home Depot or any store like Auto Zone or Pep Boys.
