Hi all,

New G owner here - a 2006. I did a search and wasn't able to get any clarity on aftermarket trailer hitches available for my year. I found some for 2005 and older and then 2010 and newer, but nothing in-between.

Any help pointing me in the right direction is greatly appreciated - thanks!

Wow... that's crazy expensive.
I got mine on Ebay with hardware and wiring for half that price....
Mine is a 2003, but can't imagine the fitment changed - but who knows ?
It did. MB removed the mounting plate.

There are some pretty crummy trailer hitches floating around out there. Even the MB factory hitch wasn't very good. See the picture on the site I pointed to. It shows how the factory hitch receiver box rounded out after being well used.

Also, you can't just clip a generic trailer light converter directly to the tail lights. That will anger the MB lighting computer.

Well, I pulled the trigger today and ordered the one Alan pointed out. I called Jason at MB of Westwood this morning beforehand - he did a search and found out that there are no MY06 G hitch kits in the U.S. nor in Germany.

The VTS unit looks very beefy - I'm looking forward to installing it. I'm going to have to eat tomato soup for the next six months to pay for it, tho... :crybaby2::D

If you are planning to mount it yourself, I suggest that you remove the rear bumper first. The WS manuals tell you to remove the bumpers. But many here suggest that you don't have to. I installed mine without removing the bumper, but what a royal pain. Those bolts on the side arms are hard to get a wrench on without removing the bumper.

In hindsight, I wish that I had taken the time to remove it.

BTW, I bought my hitch - brand new MB in the box with all of the wiring - from a member here she didn't install it. It worked out well for me.

Good luck!
