Okay. Hopefully Scott or someone can tell me what this is all about. Went to wire up the new coil and I have a green wire coming from distributor and a green wire that should be the +? from other side. See images. Whoever install the Pertronix Ignitor (which is in the distributor) I don't think installed correctly. Am I wrong? Oh brother....

Now the wires won't snap on the plugs. Wrong plugs sent, wrong wires sent??? I'm a 280lb guy with plenty of muscle. Not happening. Frustrating to say the least. Any advice?

Did you remove the "nubs" off the plugs like the instructions state?

Yes, looks as though someone cut and spliced the ignitor wires. Not the preferred method of install, but not a game changer. (Pertronix does not like the black wire spliced.)

Usually when we have seen this method of install the installer will "splice" the black wire of the ignitor to the green wire at the terminal block in the distributor. Therefore your green wire will go to the negative side of the coil. Appears your red wire is coming out of the distributor where the condenser use to be? Check it carefully for abrasion.

Cheers,

Scott

Not really looking at the "kit contents" and following the "kit installation" guide, I did missed that. Just a thought, maybe after #4 that's were this info should be inserted? Or maybe its just the way I read? :) Anyhow, my main concern is how the previous party installed the Pertronix Ignition. Watching your video shows how it should be done so I would like to get it done that way. Can I order just that part or do I need to order the entire Ignition kit. Please let me know as I would like to get shipped today. Cheers!

I added the MODULE ONLY to the sight this morning.

https://expedition-imports.com/UM161MODULE

Unfortunately only about a $20 difference between the complete kit and the module. While proper install is to not splice the trigger wire (black) it has been done and as long as the terminal block stays isolated and the splice connection good, it should work. You would also need to make sure the red wire is not abraded (we see issues with that when it is run as pictured out the bottom/side of the distributor.)

Cheers,

Scott
