I don't know if anybody else has noticed, but on the MB website, under 2002 AMG models, they state that the CLK55 engine is a supercharged V8 (5 liter I think), not the 5.5 L V8 we have on the E55. Is it a mistake or is it the next AMG V8?
Notice three things:

1) The torque (and HP) is not much different than the current engine.....so it may be just for fuel economy purposes, while still providing the performance......I thought the supercharged engine was going to make torque go up by close to 100 lb-ft.....oh well....

2) The compression ratio is up there.....reminds me of my 69 GTO

3) The Octane requirement on the fuel is 95...holy cow!!.....
Note that (a) the AMG CLK still has '55' in its monicker, suggesting the existing powerplant, and (b) the given figures show it doesn't produce enough power, nor get to sixty quick enough, to confirm the existence of a supercharger.

The whole page don't tie up!

Jamie -- London, UK
