I just bought my 560SEL off Ebay (wish me luck) for $5200. An 89 with 128,000 miles. I'll post pics when I get them. I have been looking
for about six months now. The following is a URL for a 560SEL here where I live in Denver.

http://used-cars.autos.yahoo.com/usedcars/detail/index.html?cid=automobiles-172716672&dst=6.40&rsr=bWFrZT1NQiZtb2RlbD01NjBTRUwmY2xfeT0xOTg1JmNoX3k9MTk5MSZjbF9wcmljZT0mY2hfcHJpY2U9JmNsX21pPSZjaF9taT0mY2s9JnB1cmxmPXkmZ3VyPTIwMCZjc3o9ODAwMDQmdnR5cGU9YXV0b3MmbWs9TWVyY2VkZXMtQmVueiZtbz01NjBTRUw-

The guy that owns this car is a really nice guy. He's also completely honest. The car appears to run well, but there is a veritible laundry list of stuff to fix.
Everything from the fact that the antilock breaks are disconnected to the fact that there's no gas pedal. Also, the car was in a wreck, so the whole
driver's side doesn't quite line up right (you can see it when you open the doors).

He was asking $3900 when I drove it, now he's down to $3300. I think he's going to end up keeping it, as I think he believes that
it's really worth what he's asking. It might be reasonably reliable, but it's a real beater.

As for my new car, the jury is still out. I contacted several previous customers of the seller to see if they were still happy with their purchases
(specifically SEL owners). Not only were they happy with the cars, they were extremely happy with the seller himself, so I'm hoping this works out.

I don't think anyone will take up his offer even at $2000.

Good luck on the ebay buy.

Oh, and one more thing that will make all you Benz lovers cringe. I'm slapping some fender chrome on it the minute I get it!!

WOw...you know from the pictures it looks excellent. I have a 420 SEL that is the same colour inside and out. I paid a lot less but it's no where near that shape. Looks good!

oh, dear... then you should have gone for the beater in Denver[V]

But congrats on the new purchase - it looks pristine especially the interior. There is an observable little scuff on the rear bumper but I tend to appreciate those minor imperfections in a used car.

It is purely cosmetic at this moment, but mine has a sagging rear end where the space between the tire and the wheel well is larger at the front than at the back. It'll be nice when I can get around fixing that saggy bottom.

NOOO!!! not the chrome! Well, if you really have to.. Use adhesive so it won't rust.
