Hello folks,

I'm building a simple Class III hitch receiver for the back of my W124 and will be hauling a 1UpUSA single tray bike rack. This tray will haul a MTB (30#) or a road bike (15#). My guess is that the rear will sag due to this extra weight (45# rack + 25# receiver + 30# mtb= 100 #.

Both of my SUVs tow trailer with heavy tongue weight so they both have the Air Lift 1000 air bags inside the rear coil springs. I suppose this could be an option, but I'd have to give AirLift the ID of the springs and the total height. They don't have a pre-made kit for the W124.

May I have some suggestions on what I should be looking at to mitigate the rear end sag? Is there another chassis model that have an uprated rear springs that'll fit my car?

Thanks.

Why not use a roof bike carrier??? I used this one (genuine MB accessory) on my E250. I kept it and it is still doing duty today on my Honda Accord diesel wagon.

I don't have a hitch or a bike rack, but i wanted the stiffest springs i could find that left my 87 300D at factory ride height. I got R129 rear springs from a car without SLS.
This is good info, thx. Do you have a "stinkbug" stance when the trunk is empty?
