Hi,

My shift knob looks like something out of a waterproof G-wagen (rubbery). Can a shift knob intended for an automatic transmission lever be fitted in place of the stock shift knob? I have seen some on ebay (meant for AT cars) that might look okay.

There is also a decent amount of sloppiness (during shifting) that I attribute to the rubber bushings on the levers between the shifter and the transmission input. Has anyone modified or replaced those joints? Also the way the shifter boot is designed seems to contribute to the lack of solidity while shifting gears. Has anyone redesigned this part or considered it?
