I just tested both of these 16 pin EZL's on my 1989 560sec Gen2 Japan. Both did not start car, reattached original ezl and fired right up. So anything I can fix or a service that can fix them. Also I see they have 2 different numbers, is the 012 545 08 32 or 0227 400 816 for a different 560 euro?
My japan car and one of the extras I have are the 006 545 54 32 or 0227 400 701
Looking to be educated, out of my comfort zone.
Thanks in advance Bob

Word of caution.

The EZL on my first M119 engine malfunctioned and I took a chance on a Florida shop to have it fixed for $1,000 instead of spending $3,000 on a new MB part.

The "fix" was just junk and I ended up bying the new part from MB, which they refused to warranty unless I also bought a new ignition coil.

YMMV.

That 0125458032 is for a M104 W140. Won't work. None of the later R129/W140 EZL'S will work in an euro 126.

0227400701 is the one. I think -706 also works.

I can confirm the 706 does work as it is the one in my Gen2 500SEC.

Price from MB is $1,080 for a new one. Consider this before paying $$ to have one repaired. 006 545 54 32 is not showing NLA, may be available. I know last year it was available

When I was looking to buying a SEC, about 1 1/2 years ago, I found a 1991 SEC Euro 279 HP. It had the 8-pin EZL. I remember I called the dealer and asked about the availability and price. It was ~ $1000/pc and there about 370 or so available In Germany at that time. I am sure some are still available.

Would it work for an m104.980?
Hello,

I have a Euro M104.980 and the EPC states these EZLs as compatible:

Latest spec, recently bought from MB in Germany for 1100€: A0125452032 (Bosch 0227400738) or: A0125452132 (Siemens EZ0051 5WK6 K30575HR1).

Original fitted to car in 1991: A0105459532 (Bosch 0027400736) or A0105459632 (Siemens: 5WK6 K30571HR1).

Both the latest and original versions work fine with the M104.980.

I note the comment above about the "junk" repair. Does anyone have any experience of an EZL repair? I have never heard of anyone who's had one repaired.

Best.

RayH
PS: My "new" EZL from Germany is NOS, made in 2003. Still in its box having only been tested for 30 seconds. It works!

PPS: Apparently still available:

Someone at the
in the uk they are £1400
MB Club contact got a quote from MB UK for around 950 quid.

Worth asking and seeking discount.

My local MB (Angouleme) said 2300€. But they generously said they might consider 2080€.

Nice.

Shop around.

The highest price I've paid for a used one is about 300 quid. But, as you say, prices are rising and there are very few around.
