Hey guys-

Was wondering if anyone had detailed pics of the engine compartment of a 83 300DT? Mainly looking at the driver side focusing on the vacuum lines... I have a feeling mine are not hooked up correctly and want to get that squared away before I start testing for vacuum leaks. Can anyone with this year and model mind taking a digital pic and posting please?

Thanks!

Karugs, This has probably been discussed before but, did you clean your motor with a tooth brush or did you use engine degreaser?

mountainredneck, if you don't mind post pictures of your engine.

Karugs, what did you use to make the plastic and rubber parts shine?

I now avoid the engine degreaser because it takes little to bring it back to its shiny self (the degreaser can be a bit harsh). I use a rag and either some cleaner wax or paint cleaner to get the dirt/grease off of any parts and use something like Aerospace 303 or Quik Detailer (Meguiar's) on the hoses. I actually don't do that as often anymore unless I'm attending another Benz meet :D

Yes, I use an old toothbrush too, but only if I can't get into those spots (like wax the hood but get some wax on the windshield nozzles, air vents, weatherstripping, etc).

just a little off topic.

What is the larger part/item just left of the oil dip stick with a lickage hookup ?
Electric actuator for cruise control.

What is that part???

 What is that part... coming directly from the brake booster... a (black/white) valve with two vacuum lines leading out of it. In karug's pic, it is in the bottom quarter to the left of the brake fluid resevoir.

I think I may need to replace that part but have not seen it online so I may need to go to the dealer for it. :crybaby2:

Thanks for the reply... so will I have to replace that ENTIRE vacuum line or can I just replace that (black/white thingy, see Karugs pic) valve? (assuming thats what you call it)

Thanks for you help.

What do you need the valve or the line? If it is the valve yes you can buy that at the dealer or online somewhere.

I called the dealer and they said its only available complete, vacuum line and valve... $37 special order

sounds a little cheap to be the right part?

I wish I knew what is was called though.

Ok, I figured it out... booster vacuum hose... one piece. $37 is about right. Checked online and it was around $33. I will just order it through the dealer.

Thanks for everyone's help.
