Just last night I noticed that coolant is seeping from the top seals of my radiator on the left side facing the car. I don't want to mess around and do any patch jobs, so I know that BEHR is the best replacement radiator out there.

1. How difficult is doing this job?
2. Can I do this myself or do I need a second person to help?
3. Should I replace the radiator clamps and holders also?

Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Prochambers,

A straightforward job, couple of clips secure the shroud to the bottom of the radiator, pull em upwards. & hang the shroud on the fan.

Are the hoses the originals? Clamps? Drive belts old?

You should be able to do this one alone. but if you have a willing friend... the job might go quicker.

Hey MBL. I will be changing the hoses also. No need to take chances. My son will be there to hold the radiator while I tighten necessary clamps and screws. Thanks.

You are correct on the Behr.
I would change the hoses, the mounting rubbers and transmission flex lines if you don't know when they were done last. If you buy new clips they'll be painted just FYI.. The job is easy..be sure to use Genuine coolant.

Thanks jhodg. I plan on changing the transmission lines also. I was under the car on Thursday and noticed that those needed attention. The ends are beginning to get frayed with a oily residue. I plan on replacing all hoses and lines wherever needed. I'm big on preventive maintenance.

Here in Auz the later model radiators can be serviced, new head tank etc, earlier ones were throw away jobs, my car has had new head tank fitted ( in the service history ) may be a cheaper option if you can find a rad specialist who will do it.
