Hi, I own a non-4matic E320 yr. 2000....at a recent trip to my local foreign car shop for a right Cat. Converter ($460 pts./lbr.) I was also informed that I needed a new ECU unit in order to take care of my ESP/BAS, ABS dash lights. The part he said was about $1200 w/ about $400 in labor. He said it would be best that the dealership take care of this since it was a complicated procedure ( i thought this was a pretty honest thing to do). My question is has anyone else had problems w/their ECU? And what did it cost to fix/replace the part?

Also, the price is insane if it is the ECU. I concur with the last entry. Look over the links.
Read their answers. Lots of good aftermarket sources for the ECU, if indeed it is the problem. Stealer is at it again.

your ESP/BAS/ABS light may be cured only with a new brake switch. You may not need an ECU. Also, you can use magfire cat instead. All mentioned in the sticky.
