I'm having the same transmission problem like few of the members:
Reverse OK but no Forward at all.
After so much readings, I think I want to tackle the B2 Piston first.
Can anybody provide me with the part number for the B2 piston and anything else I need (O ring , Gasket etc. and since I'm there what else should I check. I'm planning to do this in-chassis.
My tranny code is 722.408.

Thanks so much in advance.

Use the search function..you are not the first to have this issue. There are a few write ups done on it

Look in the FAQ for a post about replacing the k1 piston. It has a good DIY and provides part numbers for the B2.

Thanks guys.
Some of the info I already read and some of them are new with better pics and writeup.
Called my dealer today and this is what they told me I need:
B2 Piston - 2012700232 about $162 (based on my VIN#)
and they also told me if I change the piston, I also need to replace the valve 1262703389 ($62) - any true?
I don't see any valve in the pictures and writeup on this forum (may be I missed it, too much reading).

I believe they mean the B2 reaction valve. For what it's worth, if you tear it apart enough to replace the piston, you really should replace the valve while you're at it to ensure it'll be bulletproof for years to come.

I've been searching for the brake band piston 2012700232 to no avail. Seems like everybody I called say they are out of stock and the local dealer that I contact say it is even out in Germany and all of their supply chain (Both the expensive version $144 or the cheap version $45. same part number different price????).
Any body know if MB come out with different part number? I found out that 2012700232 is the third revision. Who knows if they come out with the new one and nobody update their system!

Finally I got the B2 piston out following these instruction: How to Replace Your Oil Cooler Lines
The piston looks like has been upgraded because it looks like the one in the instruction. The fluid is clean and no shaving or crude on the pan.
What else can go wrong and how exactly can I test the piston.
Thanks.

Figured out what exactly wrong with it. The second Dog bone between the Band and the Reactive valve came off and hiding on the filter instead of the pan.
Now I am on a quest to find the instruction to put it back in without bringing down the tranny.
Just a remainder to whoever trying to do the B2 piston. DO NOT accidentally take out the B1 piston. It seem impossible to put it back due to spring tension. I still need to sort this out. Any body got any idea? My finger is not cut out for it!!!!!
