So I'm planning on replacing my spark plug wires, ignition coils, distributor caps and rotors but Autohaus is confusing me. For the rotors and ignition coil they have a disclaimer:

I know the 1996-1999 models have a different looking coil and one for each cylinder as opposed to two. As far as a 1995 is concerned, is there a chance theres another type that Autohaus just happen to not carry?

Same for the distributor caps. Once again, they make it seem like theres more than one variant and that theres a chance I could purchase the wrong one.

Save this idiot from making the wrong purchase. Help me out W140 experts :teach:

Pretty sure 1994 was then they changed away from caps and rotors to one for each sparkplug.

But if you put your VIN into the Russian site you will get the engine no and you will know for sure if these will fit.

I guess the question is why, my 92 has been serviced by MB and all they ever replaced was the rotors caps and plugs, the last ime I did the rotors and caps. If you think rotors and caps are expensive wait untill you price wires and coils. In 95 they went to coil packs no caps rotors or wires. My Bosh caps were $80 ea, and rotors were $45 ea

95 was the last year of LH, 96 the first year of ME with 8 coils. All you need is a couple of 87 coils and a couple of 4271 rotors. That adapter stuff shouldn't be there for a 95 model - it was way earlier.
I have similar confusion with a 93 . Autohaus rotors 04271 is Ok for my engine according t the engine number , but under coils they list # W0133-1609551

Select Product

and say it is left side mounted but the car has 2 coils and when I called them they knew nothing about the second coil. Mercedes parts say there are 2 and my mechanic pointed to 2 coils ?

Also when you guys change caps , do you usually change rotors also ? Thats what I thought was the correct thing to do ?

Please verify appearance of existing unit, in particular the orientation of the connections, prior to ordering. 1 per car.

So where are the ignition coils located for a '95(US-Model) S500?

I've had the parts sitting here for quite some time and have been meaning to get around installing them

I have no idea, but I can tell you how to find it. Follow the one wire from the distributor cap that doesn't go to a spark plug. That will be the wire coming from the coil.

So I replaced everything and when I turn the ignition, the cluster goes haywire and the needles move all up and down.

Is that a sign of low battery or I plugged the spark plug cables wrong?

I can't see any connection to the parts you replaced. Only thing I can think of is that maybe you unknowingly disturbed wiring that has degraded insulation introducing shorts where before there were none.
